Regnie Wine Region, France

The Regnie wine region is one of Beaujolais’ most distinctive subregions. Régnié is one of the newer recognised crus within Beaujolais, its gently rolling hills and well-drained granite soils supporting even ripening and consistent fruit development. Gamay produces wines with bright red fruit flavours such as cherry and raspberry, soft tannins and lively acidity, making them accessible from a young age. Compared to more structured crus, Régnié’s style is typically lighter and more fruit-driven, with subtle floral notes and gentle spice. Smaller growers who focus on quality and vineyard expression dominate production, often in limited quantities that support the cru’s growing individuality.
