The Eden Valley is the Barossa’s high-country neighbour, a range of elevated ridges and valleys around Angaston, Springton, Keyneton, and Eden Valley township at 400 to 600 metres. Eden Valley Riesling stands alongside Clare as Australia’s finest: lifted florals, lime and citrus drive, and a mineral spine that carries decades of ageing. Shiraz from these hills is distinct from the Barossa floor – medium-bodied, perfumed, and spice-edged, with some of the world’s oldest Shiraz vines still producing at Hill of Grace and Mount Edelstone. High Eden, the coolest sub-district, adds fine Chardonnay and sparkling material. Producers are predominantly small and long-established.
