Darling Downs Wine Region, Queensland

The Darling Downs wine region is one of Queensland’s most elevated and agriculturally significant districts, located west of Brisbane across fertile plains and gently rising escarpments around Toowoomba, Kingsthorpe, Highfields, and Preston. Elevation keeps temperatures noticeably cooler than coastal Queensland, with warm days balanced by cooler evenings that help grapes develop flavour concentration while maintaining natural acidity. Rich volcanic basalt soils and fertile loams provide strong nutrients and effective drainage.
