Orange Wine Region, New South Wales

The Orange wine region is in the Central West of New South Wales, centred around the town of Orange and the slopes of Mount Canobolas, an extinct shield volcano. Vineyards are planted at elevations predominantly between 600 and 900 metres, with some sites exceeding 1,000 metres. This elevation creates a genuinely cool climate with wide diurnal temperature variation supporting slow, even ripening, aromatic intensity, natural acidity, and structural precision. Orange has built recognition for cool-climate white wines, particularly Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, alongside increasingly well-regarded red wines.
