We are committed to lifting the survival rates of childhood cancers and reducing the debilitating side effects experienced by children with cancer, including amputation, infertility, hearing loss and brain damage. To do this, we need well-resourced clinical research programs that are integrated into clinical practice.

Clinical trials are often the only way for sick children to access the best available treatments in the world, including promising new childhood cancer drugs and other innovative treatments such as immunotherapy. To make this happen, we have a Funding Pillar dedicated to life changing, lifesaving research and trials. We believe that the 100% cure is in research and this costs money so we need your support.

In addition to our research and clinical care commitments, My Room is proud of its samaritan funding (as part of our “Family Support” pillar) which helps families when they need it most. In FY19, over $220,000 was payed out to over 100 different families for assistance with, general bills, family accommodation, funerals, equipment for hospitals or children, flights, catering, childhood cancer educational conferences, flowers for memorial services, top end health and emergency items.

Childhood should be a carefree time, filled with play, fun, and laughter. This isn’t the case for all children. Children’s cancer shouldn’t happen – but sadly, it still does. When a child receives a cancer diagnosis, suddenly a carefree childhood is filled with appointments, treatment plans and nausea. Hope can feel far away, but when the unpredictable threat of cancer appears, the powerful love and protection a parent feels can grow even stronger. My Room is here to fuel that hope; to stand behind and support the parents and carers as they support and care for their child throughout their cancer journey.
