Chefs Biogrpahy - Chef Yotam Ottolenghi
Based in London, Chef, Yatam is a restaurateur, writer and TV personality renowned for his vegetarian cooking. Born in Jerusalem, Yatam has a masters degree in philosophy and literature but his passion has always been cooking, and in his early years attended the Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in London. Starting off as a pastry chef he worked at various restaurants around London including the pastry section at Kensington Palace, before opening his first Ottelenghi deli in Notting Hill. His cooking style is deeply rooted in his Middle East upbringing favouring tastes of Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, Israel and Armenia. He adds a western twist to his dishes by marrying them with flavors and textures of the Mediterranean and Asia. His signature dishes include butternut squash salad with red onion, za’tar, roasted aubergine with turmeric and pomegranate seeds, char grilled broccoli with fried garlic, and meringues and eggplant with black garlic. He is a recipient of multiple awards, has appeared in numerous cooking documentaries, authored multiple books, including the entirely vegetarian cookbook Plenty and Plenty More, and written for various magazine columns. A supporter of Gay marriage and gay parenting, Yotam is married to Partner Karl and together they raise two sons.
