Chef Cat Cora broke boundaries as the first female Iron Chef on Iron Chef America, becoming a household name in the culinary landscape. Raised in Jackson, Mississippi, in a family of restaurant owners, she built on her roots by blending Greek Mediterranean flavors with Southern traditions. After earning her degree from the Culinary Institute of America and training in Michelin-starred kitchens across France, Cora showcased her global sensibilities while remaining deeply connected to her heritage.
Her career includes opening Cat Cora’s Kitchen in airport terminals, the elegant Ocean Restaurant at Singapore’s S.E.A. Aquarium, and casual yet flavorful concepts like CCQ and Mesa Burger. Each venture reflects her commitment to accessible, health-forward, globally inspired food. Beyond restaurants, she served as executive chef for Bon Appétit magazine and became the first female inductee into the Culinary Hall of Fame in 2012.
Today, Cat Cora continues innovating. Her latest collaboration with Harold Import Company (HIC) introduces an affordable line of Cat Cora-branded cutlery and kitchen tools—crafted with German steel and designed to elevate everyday cooking. She also serves as a brand ambassador and advisor for Little Kitchen Academy, inspiring children to develop confidence and healthy cooking habits.
Cora is equally dedicated to giving back. She founded Chefs for Humanity in response to the 2004 tsunami—a chef-led nonprofit that provides crisis relief, nutrition education, and hunger activism. She also serves as a UNICEF nutritional spokesperson and has supported causes like the Elton John AIDS Foundation and Wounded Warrior Project. Her leadership earned her a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Greek America Foundation in 2025.
