AIDS Foundation South Africa (AFSA) has 4 programs, HIV Combination Prevention Program, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights, Community Work Program, Global Fund. Their aim is to deliver quality services to communities most in need. They partnered with CBOs and NGOs because of their access and close proximity to vulnerable communities and target populations. They believed that community participation and ownership is key to ensuring success and sustainability of local interventions. Their Community Work Program is targeted at unemployed and underemployed women and men of working age. The work must be ‘useful work’, It must improve the area and the quality of life for the people living there.
