Bordeaux, Medoc wine region located in south-western France, is widely regarded as the world’s biggest resource of fine wine with a total vineyard area of over 120,000 hectares and 8,500 growers exporting to 150 countries. Known for its sunny climate and limestone soil, Bordeaux produces on average over 700 million bottles of wines annually, ranging from table wines to the prestigious wines such as Chateau Petrus. Ninety percent of the wine produced in the State is red comprising blends of mainly Semillon and to a lesser extent, Sauvignon blanc. Sweet and dry whites and rose and sparkling wines together make up the remaining 10 percent. The State’s principal growing subregions face the Gironde River, most notably Medoc in the north and Graves in the south
